Here we aim to share with you some of the practices we undertake at school to celebrate reading for pleasure. As educators, we believe that fostering a love for reading is crucial in nurturing lifelong learners and developing well-rounded individuals.

We will celebrate our Reading Champions and update you all on what the latest endeavours the Reading Ambassadors have been getting up to. Here are just a few things we do to celebrate reading for pleasure at DSJ:

We have D.E.A.R every afternoon after lunch (Drop Everything And Read) and on Fridays, we have class swaps where the children can read together and share knowledge of books. Every term, Reading Champions are selected, those children trying incredibly hard with their reading. They win books for their class which they choose from our recommended reads.

Our Reading Ambassadors read with the nursery children on Fridays too, which has been a great hit!
