Year 4
Welcome to Year 4
This year in our teaching team we have Mrs Doud, Mrs Glover & Mrs Simson:
Mrs Doud - Class Teacher (Mon, Tues, Weds)
Hello, I am Mrs Doud and I have been teaching at DSJ since September 2000. Throughout my time here I have I thoroughly enjoyed teaching pupils from a range of year groups from Y2 all the way up to Y6. I am very excited about teaching Y4 this year with my long-standing job-share Mrs Glover. We have been a job-share since 2008 when we both returned from having our first children; we pride ourselves in being a strong team who are committed to providing a strong education for the children in our class. I qualified with a 2:1 and hold a BSc in Mathematics and QTS - as a result I have been Maths Subject Lead in school for many years. I have a passion to pass on my love of mathematics to the pupils that I teach and dispel myths about the subject that exist - all children can succeed! This year I will also return to P.E. Subject Lead - a role that I have held previously in my time at DSJ. I have always taken a keen interest in sport and competition; understanding the importance this has for both physical and mental needs. In my spare time I enjoy being with my family and friends having lots of fun such as: going to theme parks, exercising, camping and exploring different parts of the world.
Mrs Glover - Class Teacher (Weds, Thurs, Fri)
Hello, my name is Mrs Glover. I have been teaching at DSJ since 2001 when I joined as a newly qualified teacher; I have loved it here so much that I have never left! I initially began my teaching career in Lower KS2 but have since taught Years 1,2,5 and 6 also. After having my first child in 2008, I came back to work part-time to job share with Mrs Doud. We have now worked together longer as a team than we did individually; and feel that our experience and different interests equip us to provide the best education for the children in our class. My interests lie in anything creative and crafty; the children I have taught previously know that I have a love of butterflies too. I am subject lead for Art and Design. In this role I aim to help children to explore their creative side and to learn that success can be achieved in different ways. Mrs Doud and I have taught Y3 for many years now, but I am very much looking forward to the new challenges and experiences to come in Y4.
Mrs Simson - Teaching Assistant (All Week)
Hi, I'm Mrs Simson and I have been working in schools since my youngest was 3. Like many mums, I changed my career path to fit around my children. Now my girls are 16 and 18 I could move away from education and take advantage of cheaper holidays(!), but I LOVE my job and know that I make a difference to young people's lives, so as long as DSJ need me, I will stay (Nanny McPhee!!) I joined DSJ in April 2020, during the pandemic, when schools were first in bubbles and I found myself in a mixed group teaching with Mr Bell - who I have known for a few years. My fun and laughter at DSJ started in those strange times and I haven't looked back! I can't wait to work with Mrs Doud and Mrs Glover this year and am looking forward to getting to know the year 4 children; helping them to enjoy learning as much as I still do.
