Welcome to Year 5
Hello, I’m delighted to be in my third year teaching year 5 at DSJ. Before, I taught for 11 years in Asia, mainly in Thailand where I’ve had the pleasurable experience teaching in both bi-lingual and international schools.
I’m extremely passionate about my role as an educator and am fully committed in sharing the love of reading with the children. It is my hope that this enthusiasm affects children in a positive way, enhancing their joy for learning.
Our classroom ethos is focused on promoting a love of learning in all subjects; encouraging children to work hard and to always give their best.
My door is always open for parents who have any queries.
We are fortunate to have an experienced and extremely dedicated team working together with Mrs Cooling (TA) and Mrs Simson (1:1).
Mrs Glover will teach the children Religious Education and Art/Design Technology on a Wednesday afternoon and Mrs Young and Mrs Emery will teach the children Music and Spanish on a Thursday afternoon.
Our Topics for this year will be centred around Ancient Greece, the Anglo-Saxons and then a focus on Britain of the past as well as the modern day.
We will be having an Ancient Greek Day held in Autumn 2 and will be heading to the fantastic Black Country Museum in the Summer term.
We use the platform Seesaw to share the children’s homework and occasionally on Education City and Purple Mash.
